About

Share Life began in 2019 when Darby and Melissa were living in Dushanbe, Tajikistan,
and working in the neighboring villages. When a friend came and asked if they could help fund an 8-year-old little girl who had a heart defect and was in urgent need of a surgery, they knew they had to act. The surgery could be done in Tajikistan, but like many others, the girl's family were subsistence farmers from the Pamir Mountains and had no access to the cash needed for surgery.

Darby and Melissa quickly contacted friends and family, shared the need,

and were able to pay for the little girl's surgery; thus began the work of Share Life International.

All around central Asia the need for medical procedures is tremendous. Many of the procedures can be easily performed, but because of cultural and political climates of the region, people have no access to insurance or loans for costly procedures; in addition, most medical providers require cash up front for procedures. This system makes it impossible for farmers from villages to get access to needed medical treatments, even as simple as cleft lips/pallets.

It is our goal to scholarship these procedures for the poorest of Central Asia and to use locals to provide guidance and care for those individuals and families during and after their procedures.

We believe love is something we do, and the best way to show love is to help someone in their time of deepest need.

Our Mission

To help the poorest of Central Asia through medical scholarships.
